3. Alex Kwame Donyinah

Alex Kwame Donyinah is a seasoned Energy Specialist and Project Management Professional with nearly two decades of experience advancing sustainable energy access across Sub-Saharan Africa. With a career spanning renewable energy market development, clean cooking systems promotion, sector policy advisory, and multisector project leadership, he has worked extensively in Ghana, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali to support governments and private-sector actors in driving large-scale energy transitions. Since 2019, Alex is serving as a core member of the World Bank’s Energy & Extractives Global Practice Team, supporting the Bank’s country energy programs for Ghana, Liberia and Sierra Leone. His contributions extend to the Bank’s Country Climate and Development Report (CCDR) and multiple knowledge initiatives on energy access.

Prior to the World Bank, Alex spent six years with SNV Netherlands Development Organization, where he led and supported multi-million-euro renewable energy and clean cooking programs. His earlier roles with GIZ/EnDev, Daasgift Quality Foundation, the Rural Water Development Programme of the Church of Christ, and other development organizations strengthened his expertise in community-level energy access, WASH systems, project finance, and behavior-change interventions.

He holds an MSc and BSc in Renewable Energies, advance certificates in electrical engineering, which are complemented by extensive professional training in project planning, energy financing, policy analysis, and market development.
