1. Jessica Nkansah (PhD)
Jessica Aku Nkansah is a distinguished scientist and seasoned leader with over two decades of dedicated service in food safety, standardization, and regulatory oversight. Currently serving as the Acting Director of Research and Innovation at the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Mrs. Nkansah demonstrates exceptional administrative and technical leadership across multiple inspection domains, including import, product, fish, and enforcement activities. Her oversight ensures the enforcement of national and international standards, safeguarding public health and maintaining Ghana’s reputation in global trade.
She previously served as Director of the Inspectorate Directorate at the GSA and as Ghana’s National Contact Point for the European Union on fish exports. Throughout her career, Mrs.
Nkansah has demonstrated unwavering integrity, professionalism, and high moral standards. Her roles have encompassed technical, supervisory, and policy oversight responsibilities that require strict adherence to ethical principles. As the Head of Fish Inspection at GSA, she coordinated complex operations involving compliance audits, international liaison (particularly with the European Union) and the issuance of export certificates. Her leadership has been instrumental in maintaining Ghana’s compliance with stringent international food safety standards pertaining to fish export, thereby supporting industry growth and protecting consumers.
An alumna of the University of Ghana, Mrs. Nkansah holds a BSc in Biochemistry with Chemistry from the University of Ghana, an MSc in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Reading, UK, and a PhD in Food Science and Technology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
